Dsl Wont pull MAC AddressForum: Networking Topic: Dsl Wont pull MAC Address started by: Elijah.j Posted by Elijah.j on May 23 2008,19:56
After finding this website link< DSL on Wyse Term > I used their custom v1.5 dsl image and got Linux working on my Wyse winterm. For the first few months everything worked great. But after I reset everything up now the network does not work. DHCP cant get an ip and the MAC address shows up all 0's. Now if I reload the stock Wyse win ce firmware it will remote desktop and show the Mac address. Why is this happing? I would reinstall the network drivers but dsl does not come with the make command. Can anyone help. Thanks! Posted by lucky13 on May 23 2008,20:17
Maybe you should ask them about their custom image. DSL can't be responsible for hand-holding people through the use of every remaster floating around.
If the custom image allows you to use MyDSL, you can install one of the gcc extensions (and other related tools) and compile to your heart's content. Posted by Elijah.j on May 23 2008,20:29
When I use the MyDSL it tries to connect to the internet and download the extensions. Where would I put the extension files I download off the dsl website in the file system to use the terminal to install one of the gcc's manually.

ok after looking at the gcc ext. i see that that it is only for dsl 2.2 and i am running version 1.5 is there a "make" or gcc extension for older vers. of dsl?

Keep in mind extensions are made at certain points in time, so references to DSL versions reflect that and usually with respect to kernel versions and in relation to matching compiler to that for the purpose of compiling modules. I don't recall any issues with the gcc*.dsl versions between versions. I've installed gcc1-with-libs.dsl on 2.1b, 3.x, and 4.x without any issues.
